MONITOR SPEAKERS Autocostruire midwoofer CIARE CM 161 HORN TWEETER MONACOR

Hello to all the people of 'HI FI, today I want to tell you about the history of this great pair of speakers / monitors DIY. Because you have a pair of beautiful and exuberant midwoofer Ciara, signed CM 161, and a pair of horn tweeter HT 95 signed Monacor PA, I asked myself, why not build a pair of speakers to satisfy my thirst of decibels that would otherwise I could not hear with a simple pair of conventional speakers?. Having said that I started work, and parameters in hand I started with my trusty PC to simulate what would have jumped out of this pair of mid-woofer, and I can not really surprised to realize that while I had a good efficiency estimated at around 95 db watt meter, from another I could not enjoy a very extensive range low, and this unfortunately is the price to pay for speakers like (light moving mass and high power factor for this size), on the other hand, my aim was to achieve excellent overall performance, but the project was not to distort, nor force them beyond the limits of the components used. Well, without these details I will now describe the work done by me, that ad was not easy, from loading to be used for mid-woofer, in fact I had two choices, the first was the classic air suspension (sealed box), the second bass reflex!. The first allows a good but not excellent response at the lowest frequencies of the audio spectrum, the latter confirmed that the mid-woofer is not born to go down in frequency, but allow a good dynamic whole, allowing the phenomenon of ragging break-up of cone pressure levels a little higher, all resulted in a load of about 14 liters tuned to 85 Hertz on the walls insulated with mineral wool to reduce spurious frequencies at medium and high frequencies, and this says a lot about of these speakers (we'll talk about later). Once drafted the speakers, it shall make the holes and insert the woofer and tweeter At this point I begin to detect the frequency responses of the various components, starting from the mid-woofer, and as if by magic, I confirm, as found from the curves provided by the home that the "wooferotto" has some piccaccio around 5 kilohertz (perhaps because born to car use, then be installed into the door and then not aligned relative to the listener), and in fact that off-axis peak is always decreasing. The tweeter, however, despite being a component of a trumpet, part rocket (with a bump just from 5 kilohertz) and then linearized to its limits, which are around 20 kilohertz. Without gutting mistakes, nevertheless bore you with formula or treaties of electro, I just tell you that: 1) the filter for the mid-woofer is a lowpass second order Butterworth-type at 5 kHz, with compensation cell, 2) the filter for the tweeter is a second order Highpass Bessel type (q = 0.5), 6 kHz. The choice of a lower Q for the high pass for the tweeter is easy to say, the latter being very energetic on the portion of frequencies next intersection, I meant that those frequencies were attenuated by 6 dB at the crossover (and not like the traditional 3 dB Butterworth), so that everything would have given an overall frequency response free of holes and / or spikes, as was actually observed in the final measures, the latter was also attenuated by 3 db ulteriormene through resistance, because it was found be much more efficient than the mid-woofer. The cabinet is made of particle board by 2 cm, finished first with two coats of sealer, stucco body repair shop for any imperfections, and after several passes of sandpaper, paint a black brush, then sprinkle with automotive-type damping (it is not a scandal, all speakers are so PRO-finished), all obviously scratch-proof. I would come to an end, but it would be futile to finish the speech without a few words about these speakers!. Well, in fact each one of us could do what he wants, even put them on the Christmas tree! Jokes aside, they were born on a basis of high efficiency, meeting the parameters of two mid-woofer and two tweeters which have characteristics PRO, and high efficiency and good power, but the speakers on the streets are still low range speakers, what does it mean? nothing, not aliens, but must be used as it should be, in most cases you can simply connect them to your HI FI altrenativa your speakers if you have dry, or use it a little more challenging such as studio monitors, and here the discussion begins to weave, because even if they have good efficiency, and we invite you to fiddle with the volume, the phenomena of break-up of the cone are still there if eccedeste with the volume, this is not a defect, you can easily read up!. I end by giving you the tips for using these speakers: 1) use quiet, you can use them as-is without exceeding the volume, or at least mitigate some of the bass with the tone control if you want to throttle the volume , 2) use PRO, combine it with a subwoofer stereo or two mono, filter through about 80 Herz and see some beautiful, believe me in this configuration can really give the best, the sound pressures reaching really high, but not low price compared to some pre-packaged systems kiloeruo! Good listening to everyone.

How Long Will Rubbermaid Drink Jug Keep Warm

miniloudspeakers Autocostruire

listening and listening again to Hi-Fi systems and home theater with a commercial, I realized that while the electronics (DVD player + amp) are well made, the same can not be said Speaker dedicated to them, unfortunately, in my opinion designed and constructed in order to complete the installation and nothing more, and while I, as a purist simple stereo turn up their noses listening to the noise and not music, I thought the other to myself why not design a pair of small speakers able to square the circle?. Let me explain where a Pincopallino anyone after having bought and spent good money for your home theater system, full HD and so on and so forth, because he has to put up with mediocre sound (at least that which comes from the front speakers), which unfortunately has the power to "boxes" worth little to the rest of the system?, And also why the audiophile who wants to listen his music has to divest of the title "HI FI" perhaps because he has not enough space? Here is served!, Aerospace nothing for charity, but a simple pair of small speakers built sensibly, respecting the fees payable and the experience that people like me, for over twenty years designing and building speaker systems for home and car use . But we can specifically, the heart of this system revolves around two of our most Italian nice woofer Ciara, signed CW 100 10-inch nominal diameter, they are for car use but there is nothing, as I did use for HI FI households. Well, once extracted the parameters (I do not trust much of the datasheet), I simulated various loads, and I realized that what suits them best is the bass reflex!. Simulation and comes out a little book given to about 80 Hertz, with a slowly declining trend at low frequencies, all confirmed during play. The doubts I had about the tweeter to be used in this system, I did spend a couple of sleepless nights, because despite having a nice pair of wooferotti however, also quite powerful and performing, I did not want to spend a lot of money for the same tweeter, also because they, the woofer due to their small diameter, are capable of expressing frequency well beyond can make a larger woofer, and since I had a pair of small neodymium tweeter, also for car use (Autosonik) I wondered why not combine it with this system? Here, sketched the case, time align the woofer and tweeter, as well as placing them in asymmetrical and symmetrical, micofono and spectrum analyzer in hand I made some measurements, and first impressions were that the bass had a piccaccio to about 3500 Hertz, tweeter and woofer were much more exuberant, obviously with a good dose of patience, and with the help of PC, with my ears that I was able, through the simple but not trivial at all crossover designed and created by me, to make the fairly linear frequency response from 70 to 20,000 Hz + - 3dB, I never tire of saying that the crossover is the brain of a speaker system, but the basics and then the final result can be attributed more to the goodness of the initial project and the goals you want to achieve, filters with dozens and dozens of components to linearize phase response and if a hand lead to some results, from another there is always a price to pay, and the latter almost always penalizes efficiency, and good basic design, filter + or - for a simple linear system and not so much in exact efficiency (Especially with small parts, as in this case). The implementation of the box is mixed, chipboard and plywood 1 cm, the interior has been insulated to the project with rock wool, absolutely non-toxic likely to break down any spurious frequencies that would compromise the acoustic performance. The outside however, once smoothed the edges and covered with several coats of sealer Verica and stucco was finished with textured black scratch-resistant coating, making the entire inserted into any domestic environment, I also arranged to place the base of the speakers, the adhesive velvet, so as not to ruin any type of mobile will be supported where these objects. Single habit in all my creations is the absolute absence of front covers, a cloth because any noise, even the best there is, causes the colors to the sound, two because I may say so, I also like watching as well as hear the speakers as they play. The photos I do justice to the reality of craftsmanship. Listening although very subjective, I will try to mention some little impression. I state that I listen to mostly pop music and dance (but not absolutely despise the other genres), I listened to long this pair of speakers, and the first impression I have, even changing from time to time generally is the airiness, the fine detail and the credibility of the message sound that comes out, they are not efficient systems (89 dB W / m estimated), but given the simple (but then again not trivial) crossover, are not so tricky for the amp that will drive them, in fact any amplifier that supports the 4 ohm can digest it very well, giving good watt enough, I wish you good listening, remaining available to answer any questions.
